Children’s Day
June 20 @ 10:00 am - 4:00 pm

Fun & Games at the Farm!
Children’s Day is a blast! Join us for childish play from yesteryear and learn about the important roles that children played on the farm. The whole day is packed with fun!
DATE: Saturday June 20, 2026
TIME: 10:00 to 4:00
Games, Crafts, Activities, and Snacks!
- You don’t want to miss out on this! From 10 am to 12 noon, watch our flock of sheep as our sheepherder uses his Australian sheep dog to herd the sheep and sheer their fleece. Did you know that shearing sheep is a necessary practice for the domestic sheep’s health and comfort? Without annual shearing, the excessive wool growth can lead to overheating, parasite infestations, and mobility issues. Sheering is important!
- Take a tractor ride to explore our fifty plus acre farm.
- Meet our cows, sheep, pigs, and goats as they graze in their pastures. (Bring some carrots or apples to feed them, or purchase grain at the Country Store!)
- Visit our Blacksmith Shoppe and watch as our Blacksmith swings his hammer and fires up the forge!
- Participate in the Big Yellow Barn Scavenger Hunt in our 104-foot long barn. Prizes awarded for those who finish!
- Facepainting for children will be ongoing on the Jones front porch!
- Children will enjoy colonial chores as their colonial counterparts once did such as using a scrub board and a wringer washer to wash clothes, pump water, or carry buckets with a wooden yoke!
- Our miniature reproduction Wells Fargo Stage Coach, a replica of the 1852 Wells Fargo stagecoach, will give rides throughout the day for children under 15. Known for its red and gold color, these coaches became an enduring symbol of the company’s speed, reliability and western legacy.
- Our storyteller will be in the ell today reading G is For Granite: A New Hampshire Alphabet by Marie Harris, New Hampshire poet laureate from 1999 -2004. Discover, in verse and picture form, about the rich heritage of New Hampshire!
- Tour the historic Jones House and 1810 Tavern and see the place that five generations of the same family once lived and called home!
- There will be a pie eating contest for children ages 12 and under! Prizes awarded!
- Games! Children’s day field races include sack races, three-legged race, egg-in-a-spoon race, wheelbarrow race, and more! Or join with family and friends in parachute games and corn hole!
- Tour the 1940s kitchen with Elizabeth Jones and make butter using farm fresh heavy cream. Then sample some on homemade cornbread from an 1800s recipe! Yummy!
- Stop by the Country Store to purchase a unique souvenir of your day on the farm!
- Luncheon items available for purchase.
