Old Tyme Tavern Day
Travel back to the 1800s when people traveled by stagecoach and stopped at the Jones Tavern for refreshments, to stay overnight, to rest their team of horses, or to get medical treatment from the Tavernkeeper’s wife!
DATE: Saturday, May 18, 2024
TIME: 10:00 – 4:00
Take your photo with our period horse drawn stage coach!
Our coach will be available for picture taking before you embark on a house tour with Levi or Sally Wooster Wallingford Jones. Your host will welcome you into the 1810 Jones Tavern overlooking the Olde Stage Road.
Watch as one of the Jones family members spins wool into yarn. Enjoy a taste of Tavern fare in the kitchen, including gingerbread and switchel, also known as Haymaker’s Punch. Medicinal remedies will be demonstrated by the Tavernkeeper’s wife. Guides in period dress will guide you through the historic Jones house where five generations of the same family once lived.
Featured musician: Bob Kilham, the Banjo Player.
Richie’s Famous Hot Dog Cart will be on site for food!
