Prizes awarded for those who finish!\nFacepainting for children will be ongoing on the Jones front porch!\nChildren will enjoy colonial chores as their colonial counterparts once did such as using a scrub board and a wringer washer to wash clothes\, pump water\, or carry buckets with a wooden yoke!\nOur miniature reproduction Wells Fargo Stage Coach\, a replica of the 1852 Wells Fargo stagecoach\, will give rides throughout the day for children under 15. Known for its red and gold color\, these coaches became an enduring symbol of the company’s speed\, reliability and western legacy.\nOur storyteller will be in the ell today reading G is For Granite: A New Hampshire Alphabet by Marie Harris\, New Hampshire poet laureate from 1999 -2004. Discover\, in verse and picture form\, about the rich heritage of New Hampshire!\nTour the historic Jones House and 1810 Tavern and see the place that five generations of the same family once lived and called home!\nThere will be a pie eating contest for children ages 12 and under! SUMMARY:Moving Day for the Plummer Ridge School House!
DESCRIPTION:Here comes the school house!\n🌧️ 🌧️ 🌧️ New Date: Wednesday April 1 🌧️ 🌧️ 🌧️ \nThe Historic Plummer Ridge School House is coming to the New Hampshire Farm Museum! \nDATE: Wednesday\, April 1\, 2026\nTIME: 8:00 p.m. \nIMPORTANT: It’s important to remember that the road will be closed for the move and parking is not allowed on White Mountain Highway. Parking is available at the Farm Museum by the country store. The lower road of White Mountain Highway in the area of Index Packaging is set to close at 8 pm. Traveling from the North\, people can come and go from the museum parking lot. \nWe’ll keep you updated with any changes on our Facebook page! \nWe are very excited to this new addition to the museum! The schoolhouse was built about a mile South of the museum so that the children from the farms on Plummer’s Ridge did not have to travel long distances to downtown Milton\, especially in the winter. The last school session was in 1912 and the building was sold to the Plummer’s Ridge Sewing Circle in 1922. \nPrior to the acquisition by the New Hampshire Farm Museum\, it was owned by the Town of Milton and maintained primarily by John Katwick\, a long-time resident of Milton. Realizing the historical significance of the schoolhouse\, the Farm Museum proposed to add the schoolhouse to the Museum grounds for school children to visit as part of the Museum experience. \nWe are pleased that this move was approved by the Town of Milton in its March\, 2024 election. This is going to be such an exciting day. Please share this news with all your friends and neighbors!!!
